My vision about Duality engine

Anderson Stafocher, Ariel Ramos and me (Renê Druziani) made out this blog to tell what we think about the Duality engine, after worked a little with it.

Duality is an engine for 2D games development.

In my first contact I was a bit lost in the editor screen, so I started laying my cursor on almost everything to know what it is.

I have to confess that it took a few minutes to understand the Scene and Project Views, and how to create a new game object. I was every time right-clicking to see what options I got, but I was feeling lost.

The DualityTtutorial is pretty good and you get almost all the information you’ll need, but so many points in it you really learn in pratice. Rigidbody Editor was one of those point for me.

After creating the game objects that I was needing, I started scripting… ok it uses Visual Studio, it’s great because you are free to create your scripts and find out more about the Duality library. About scripting you’ll almost the basic in the Duality Tutorial, but you’ll need to find out alone how to do what you wanna do.

Duality is a really fast engine, but I was every time messing with the scripts.

Sorry (obvious apologize) {

I know that it’s not fair to compare different engines like that, but I felt more free in Unity about the scripting and it’s was easier to test those scripts;

}

In general Duality is pretty good for making casual games, it’s fast but I don’t feel it’s strong.
